Dr Shaw is a General Surgeon with a specialist experience in head and neck surgery, endocrine surgery, and skin cancer surgery. He has undertaken a couple highly regarded specialist fellowships at Prince of Wales and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Hospitals.
Dr Shaw is committed to providing individualised expert surgical care to his patients. He opted to join ISHC because he views the integrated interdisciplinary approach as optimal to patient care. He takes the time to ensure his patients are well informed and cared for at all stages of their surgical journey.
Dr Douglas Shaw obtained his medical degree with honours through Sydney University in 2017. He completed a Master of Surgery in 2010 looking at patterns of spread of non-melanoma skin cancers in the head and neck, and investigation the role of sentinel lymph node biopsy to treat high risk lesions.
He completed general surgical training and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2017. He was successful in obtaining a sought-after fellowship in Surgical Oncology and at Prince of Wales Hospital in 2018 and gained specialist experience in endocrine surgery and soft tissue tumours / sarcomas. He gained further specialist knowledge and surgical expertise in treating patients with head and neck cancer through Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Hospitals.
Dr Shaw regularly participates in conferences and course to ensure he stays up do date with current recommendations and treatment guidelines, novel surgical approaches, and alternative treatment options.
